Knowledge Transfer & Professional Development
Beyond his research endeavours, Professor Yan has many years of experience in knowledge transfer, teacher training, and school support. He has conducted over 100 professional development workshops on assessment and/or measurement for principals and teachers from Hong Kong, Macau, Chinese Mainland, and overseas.
Research Highlight
Professor Yan Zi was awarded nearly HK$8 million under the RGC Senior Research Fellow Scheme 2024/25, one of Hong Kong's most prestigious research honours, for his project to develop a student-centred, assessment-driven adaptive learning platform.
Professor Yan's recent book, Student Self-assessment as a Process for Learning, is a systematic account of student self-assessment research, including its conceptualisation, measurement, predictors, relationship with other learning concepts, and impact on learning outcomes and interventions.
He edited Assessment as Learning: Maximising Opportunities for Student Learning and Achievement, and is also the co-author of the 4th edition of Applying the Rasch Model: Fundamental Measurement in the Human Sciences.
